My Week in Pictures: The Third Installment

Life is a roller coaster ride.
And I've lived long enough to know that no matter how many times I make plans,
God usually has something else in mind.
But I still believe in making plans.
I believe in setting a path and letting God alter it at the right time.

A few years ago, I never would have let my dog do this.
I might have said something along the lines of:
"He'll drink it and get sick from all the contamination!"
or
"Great, now he's going to walk inside the house and stain the carpet with his muddy paws."
But these days, I tend to go with the flow.
And after a few days of rain, it just seemed right to let Niko wade through the water.
Plus, the dog had a blast!
Surprisingly, my carpet went unstained ;)

My husband works very hard.
Like 6--sometimes 7--days a week.
And some days, he works 12-hour days.
Once he told me he wanted to open a gas station.
My response was: "How are you going to do that?
Do you quit your day job? Or your night job?
Or your weekend job?"
He's a hard worker and always has to stay busy.
It's why he works a regular job, then teaches at night,
and then fits in our website/graphic design business on the weekends--which is starting to expand into
consulting and fixing computers.
Anyway, to make a long story short, when he came home on Friday at 8:00 after a long day and said,
"Half-priced shakes at Sonic?" I knew I had to say, "Yes."
As we were eating our delicious half-priced shakes, the Lumineers came on.
We turned the volume up and sang along.
And it was the perfect 'date'.

Every night, my rambunctious, high-energy dog turns into a pumpkin.
9:15 rolls around and he can barely stand up straight.
I have to carry him to bed.
That's how tired he is.
I always enjoy cuddling with him, though.
He's such a sweet boy at night.

I am not a breakfast person.
To me, breakfast is a cup of coffee. Black. No sugar. No cream.
However, I know that is not healthy.
So, I finally found a breakfast that I enjoy making and eating.
Granola, yogurt, strawberries and honey.
It's delish.

I spent Saturday working on the yard and cleaning the house.
This is how Niko spent his Saturday.

My husband took me to lunch mid-way through my huge cleaning.
And we learned that it doesn't matter if you order grilled or crispy chicken sandwiches at Braums.
Both take FOREVER to get.

Mother's Day was a lot of fun.
We spent the morning at church, then went over to my in-laws to celebrate.
We ate way too much, played Apples-to-Apples and I admired the pretty flowers.

Pretty roses.

Monday morning, I walked outside and found Niko chewing on this garden snake.
I'm slowly learning how to dispose of dead critters in my backyard.
Wearing my cowboy boots, shorts, and pajama top, I had to dispose of this slithering creature.
By the way, the image doesn't do justice to how big this snake actually was.
He was curled up--dead--here, but he was about a foot long.

On Tuesday, my sister-in-law hung out with me.
We went to the Amish Cheese House in Chouteau for lunch.
My dad didn't believe that Amish people actually live near us.
So, I snapped this picture from the second story of an Amish person driving their tractor.
He was impressed.
Also that morning, a horse-drawn buggy with two Amish men rode by my house.
I wish I could say it looked weird to see the buggy going down our street, but it didn't.

Yes, it was 93 degrees at 6pm that night.
It was hot, but I'm not complaining!
I'd rather have 90's than 40's!

Last night, Neeky cuddled up on the couch with me to watch T.V.
Since he's been walking four miles a day, he's one sleepy pup.

Overall, it was a great week!
And I'm looking forward to seeing what's in store for the next!
