The Budweiser Clydesdales

We've all seen the commercial.
And I...well, I have seen it as least twice.
Or maybe a dozen times.
But who's counting?
What commercial am I talking about?
This one, of course!

And yes, I cry every time I watch this commercial.
I love animals--especially horses.
It really tugs at my heartstrings.
So, when my husband told me the Budweiser Clydesdales were coming to Pryor,
I just knew I had to see them!
And see them I did.
But shhh!
Don't tell my husband.
He had to work late and couldn't go.

O.K. so maybe I was a little late and they were already loaded into their semi.
But I still got to see them up close!

Isn't this one just a cutie!
They were so calm.
You could definitely tell they were the strong, silent type.

As I was taking pictures, I said to my mom, "What are they famous for again?"
She replied, "I don't know."
Outside of being in commercials, I really wasn't sure what the big deal with these horses were.
Don't get me wrong, I love Clydesdales.
And I love seeing them up close.
I just wanted to know if they were more than mere 'actors'.

So, I decided to find out for myself.
Here are some random facts about the Budweiser Clydesdales.
Just in case you didn't know much about them like me.

1. The Budweiser Clydesdales first appeared in 1933.
They were given as a present from the Busch brothers to their father to
celebrate prohibition being repealed.

2. The Budweiser Clydesdales' farm is located in St. Louis, MO.
Um...that's only like 365 miles from me.
Or a six-hour drive.
Hmm...I see a trip to St. Louis in my future.

3. They have a mascot.
And that mascot is a Dalmatian!
How cool is that?!

4. The Budweiser Clydesdales are, ultimately, mascots for the Budweiser brand.
They appear in commercials, parades, presidential inaugurations, come to my local Wal-Mart,
and seem to live the life of a very prestigious breed of horse.
