This Place I Now Call Home

“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.” --Helen Keller

I know what you're thinking. Adventures in a small town? They don't exist! But let me assure you, they do, too! When you're around the right people, you can always find good, clean fun. I think that's what surprised me most about moving to Oklahoma. I discovered that it doesn't matter where you live--just who you have beside you that makes the adventure worth while.

If you know me, then you know I don't do anything impulsively. I have to mull things over and weigh all the options before making a life-altering decision. I also have to plan for every catastrophe before it happens. So, when it came to moving to Oklahoma, it was out of character for me to jump at the chance to embark on a new adventure with my husband.  I had this silly idea of what life was like here. I blame Grapes of Wrath for the vision of rolling, dusty hillsides stuck in my head. But I was willing to give it a chance for my husband. Besides, I had never lived anywhere but SoCal. I thought it might be nice to live under a different piece of sky before putting down roots for good.

What surprised me most about Oklahoma was how quickly I fell in love with small town life. I knew it would be quaint and quiet. Life moves to a slower pace out here--the complete opposite of my life in California. I didn't expect to call it home so soon, but I miss it every time I leave. So, here are a few pictures that describe my beautiful life here, in this place I now call home :)

Niko has claimed a portion of the new couch my husband's cousins' gave us. If I'm sitting on 'his' section, he will bark at me to move. Good thing it's big enough to fit the whole family!

My sister-in-law and I had a picnic in the park last week.

Then she decided to explore. Ah...to be young again!

Impromptu photo session. Isn't she gorgeous?!

I have seen the sun set in many states, but none compare to watching the Oklahoma sunset every evening.

My sweet troublemaker dog decided to spend all winter digging up the underground mole trails in our backyard. He attempted to dig under the concrete path, but didn't get far. Now, he just shoves his head in there to sniff around.

The yellow tulips I planted a few weeks ago have opened! Still waiting on the purple ones.
